Description
The Soloc Uno is a seatbelt solution for one-handed users. This might be due to a stroke, limited mobility or a limb difference.
All Soloc belts are tested to ISO 16840-3 and ISO 16840-10 and are CE and UKCA marked and registered with the FDA and MHRA.
How does it work?
The FlexiFix arm holds the buckle of the seatbelt in a ‘ready’ position, allowing you to bring the stud side to it and connect easily. The buckle closes with ease with the help of a magnet, which activates a physical connection in the buckle. Simply tighten the belt by pulling on the D-ring, in the same way you would usually tighten a lap belt.
To release the belt, simply push against the small lip or pull the pull tab. This allows users with limited hand function to release their buckle independently.
The FlexiFix arm remains in an upright position when the belt is not in use, making transferring in and out of the wheelchair much easier!
As we are a small team, we haven’t had a lot of opportunities to use the belt yet. However the three patients who have them have managed really well. The workshop have found them easy to set up, and the clinical staff are happy with the level of independence it offers to clients with reduced hand function.Â

What sizes does the Soloc Uno come in?
The FlexiFix arm of the Uno belt is a fixed length. It has several fixing holes to choose from, depending on the length needed, to allow you to fit the belt to the user. You can also purchase an extender plate to add up to 120mm.
The belt can be adjusted to fit on the webbing side of the belt, where it attaches to the chair. To fit this side of the belt, you will need to allow enough extra webbing to bring the stud side all the way to the buckle in its upright position. You also have adjustability at the centre of the belt, by the buckle, this is suitable for daily adjustments for different types of clothing, etc.
The Uno belt is available with either 600mm or 700mm total padding. The minimum length of the belt with the 600mm padding is 720mm and the maximum is 1500mm. With 800mm padding, the minimum length is 820mm and maximum is 1500mm.
Cleaning instructions can be found on the ‘Care’ tab. Replacement padding can also be purchased separately!
If your wheelchair doesn’t have holes already cut into the frame you can use one or more of our fixing options:
- The tubular frame clamp works with the webbing belt side of the Uno and slots into the Tri-plate.
- The frame saver clamps work with both sides and come as a pair.
- If you need more length in the FlexiFix Arm side of your belt, an extender plate is available.
Soloc Uno Spares are available.
Soloc User/ Carer Information
- Straps or Harnesses should be the last item to be released or removed before the user leaves the wheelchair and the first things to be secured after entering. Do not move around with the belt unfastened.
- Daily inspection of the belt is recommended. If any defects are found, please DO NOT use the belt and contact us, the manufacturer.Â
- The Soloc belt length may require adjustment periodically, to allow for User growth, changes to User’s disability or changes in seasonal clothing. On the Freedom or Uno FlexiFix Arms, adjustments can be made at the mounting plates, located at the anchored end of the belt. The webbing straps on the Connect or Uno can be adjusted at the main buckle using the D-ring, or further adjustment is available at the Tri-Slot mounting plate at the anchored end of the belt.
- Incorrect adjustment could lead to distress and pressure injury, please check the occupant for signs of discomfort and redness, bruising or sores around the contact area with the belt.
- The padding covers and webbing belts can be wiped with mild detergent and warm water. If badly soiled, the FlexiFix arms can be removed from the wheelchair and the padding covers removed and washed. We recommend that the arms are refitted by a wheelchair fitting professional, should you need to do this. The removable padding on the Connect or Uno webbing straps can be washed in a washing machine at 40°C on a synthetics cycle. Replacement padding is available in the spare parts listing for your belt.
- The buckle can be wiped down with a damp cloth with a mild detergent and warm water. Do not machine wash. Do not submerge the buckle in water. If water or other liquid does enter the main body or stud parts of the buckle, allow to drain and dry for 24 hours in a warm ventilated place. Please note that while external water may dry quickly, the internal compartments of the unit will take longer to dry.
- Inspection before use of the product is recommended to ensure the function of the buckle is working correctly. Test the release button/pull tab opens without obstruction and unit closes without any additional force. Adjust any padding that interferes with the pull tab.
- Ensure the Stud enters the main unit without excess force. The connection of the two units is assisted with internal magnets so no additional force is required once the two parts are brought together. If the magnets do not pull the buckle parts together, check that no debris has accumulated inside the body opening, and check the stud to see if any dirt is fouling the end of the product which may restrict the unit’s connection. To remove any debris please wipe the stud with a cloth or use a soft tool, such as a cotton bud, to remove debris stuck in the stud entry point on the buckle.
- For the Uno and Freedom: The FlexiFix arm is designed to hold your belt open. It should not be bent excessively as it may break, causing sharp edges, or cease to hold the buckle in the correct position. The arm will stay out of your way when entering the chair – take care not to sit on it.
Soloc Warnings
- The Soloc belts are designed for postural positioning and/or safety only, not as a method of restraint.
- Â UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should the Soloc belts be used as the sole method of securing the User in a wheelchair during transportation in a motor vehicle. When transporting an occupant in a wheelchair, in a mobility vehicle, a suitable 4-point tie down restraint (WTORS) system with a suitable, separate 3-point passenger restraint must be used to ensure the occupant is safe during transportation.
- All Soloc belts should be prescribed and installed by a suitably qualified healthcare professional, giving the necessary consideration to positioning, strap routing and correct adjustment.
- The belt should only be worn by the user for whom it has been fitted.
- Achieving the correct tension is extremely important – see the Instructions tab for more information.
- The Soloc belts with Soloc buckle are intended for a single occupant whose mass does not exceed 100kg.
- Do not modify or tamper with the Belt or Buckle in any way.
- We recommend that the belt’s function is checked before use – see Care tab and Instructions tab for more information.
- The buckle uses magnetic fields to engage and attract the parts together. Please make sure this does not affect magnetically sensitive devices. The buckle should be located at least 50mm from a pacemaker or other electronic device.
- Please record the batch number from the packaging in your users records for traceability.

How to Fit the Soloc Uno
We recommend getting your belt installed by a professional wheelchair fitter. Please ensure that you have permission from the wheelchair owner before fitting the belt. Please see the instruction leaflets above for full fitting instructions.
Initially, the installer will need to establish the most suitable position for the Uno belt to be attached, according to the User’s disability and type of wheelchair. It is recommended that this is carried out with the User seated in the wheelchair and the Uno belt laid around the User in the intended position.
The FlexiFix Arm of the Uno (the metal arm) can be fitted on either side of the wheelchair. It should be fitted to the side on which has the user had the least mobility. This allows them to use their most mobile side to do up the belt.
The FlexiFix arm should be fitted so that the buckle will sit the correct way up when the belt is fastened.
The FlexiFix arm of the Uno has several fixing holes along the bottom section. Position the arm so that the buckle will sit in a central position on the user. Use the closest hole to fix the arm to the wheelchair. An extender plate can be ordered from Active Hands if the arm is not long enough.
The FlexiFix arm can be attached by fixing directly to any fixing holes in the frame. To attach the FlexiFix arm to a wheelchair that doesn’t have existing holes, use a frame saver clamp. These can be purchased separately from Active Hands.
If the FlexiFix arm is not long enough for your client, an extender plate can be added to increase the length by up to 120mm. The extender plate should be attached to the FlexiFix arm in two locations using the bolts, washers and nuts provided. One washer should sit under the head of the bolt and the other should be added before the nut.

The webbing side of the belt should be fitted after the FlexiFix arm side. Make sure that the D-Ring is touching the Metal Adjustment Buckle. The user will need the webbing strap to be long enough to reach the buckle on the FlexiFix arm with the Stud when the belt is open.
The belt length can be adjusted using the Tri-Slot Wheelchair Mounting Plate (Tri-Plate). Any excess belt can be held in place with the plastic Tri-Glide.
First put the belt through the tri-glide by inserting it up through one slot and down the other and sliding it along the belt. Determine the length of the belt that is suitable for the user, then fit the tri-plate. Insert the belt into the first slot from the back of the plate. Then through the second slot from the front of the tri-plate and back through the third slot. The belt can then be pushed into the first slot again, this time from the front of the plate. Once pulled tight, this will hold the belt securely in place. The end of the belt can then be slotted through the Tri-Glide to tidy up the ends and prevent the excess belt being caught in the wheels.
The Webbing Side of the Uno comes with a Tri-Slot Wheelchair Mounting plate (Tri-plate) as standard with a fixing hole and corresponding bolts and washers. If the wheelchair has holes already in the frame, the included bolts can be used to attach the Tri-plate to the chair.
If your wheelchair does not have holes in the frame you can use the frame saver clamps to attach the Tri-plate to the to the frame using the hole in the Tri-plate.
The belt should be placed in such a way that it stops the pelvis sliding forwards. More information on postural support fixation and placement can be found in BS 8625:2019.
Which Belt is Right for Me?
All of our Soloc Lap Belts feature the easy-to-use Soloc Buckle for those with reduced hand function. The buckle side has a cup that the stud side drops into. The magnets help the Soloc buckle to connect. Once connected, a physical connection is activated to hold you safely in your wheelchair. To release the buckle either push on the release tab, or pull the pull tab – as easy as that!
